An Important Early French Motorized Bicycle
Unique Single-Cylinder Engine Design
Formerly Part of the Pierre Guélon Collection

This incredible motorized bicycle was reportedly found in 1972 by French businessman Pierre Guélon as part of a large collection of frames and parts in a scrapyard. It features a single-cylinder engine located under the seat that utilized a unique design devoid of a connecting rod. The Mullin Collection purchased the Ridel via the 2018 Artcurial auction at Retromobile in Paris. Reportedly capable of speeds of between 35 and 40 kph in period, this Ridel now stands as a wonderful piece of late-19th century technology to admire.
